This is a picture of my nephew Matt Goodheart and my parents Rodney & Martha Garrard. We were fishing on Lake Columbia in November 2007. Matt caught this fish before the rest of us even started fishing. He was using a Spook Jr. He is fishing crazy!! He is wearing one of my inflatable life jackets. If we win this contest the new one will go to him. He likes the inflatable because it is easier to fish in and cooler.

Oops!  When choosing Matt as one of our “Hooked on Safety” winners, we were so thrilled to see a young person enjoying a day of fishing with his family members (catching fish and wearing life jackets) we overlooked the fact that Matt is wearing an inflatable PFD.   We would like to point out that the USCG does not consider an inflatable PFD authorized for use on children under 16 years of age.  In states where a child is required to wear “an approved” flotation device at all times while on a boat, the inflatable device will not be considered an approved device.
